Since April 2, 2025, the United Kingdom has required a new formality for entering its territory: Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). Mandatory for all visa-exempt visitors, truck drivers are included in this requirement.

The application must be made directly online on the government website GOV.UK and includes personal and biometric information, security questions, and costs £10. Once issued, the ETA is valid for two years, or until the expiry of the passport used at the time of application.
