United Kingdom: new obligation for transport companies
From January 31, 2025, a new formality, the ENS (Entry Summary Declaration), will be compulsory for all carriers entering the UK, whether via Eurotunnel or by ferry. This administrative change is designed to enhance the safety and compliance of cross-Channel trade.
Country regulations are always evolving, as part of our consulting and support services, we are committed to offering you services in line with the latest legal requirements, to help you save time and money. Monitoring is part of the quality support we provide to our customers, which is a priority for Negometal.
What is ENS?
The ENS is an electronic security declaration that carriers must submit before entering the UK. It includes detailed information on the goods being transported, the shippers, the consignees and the planned itineraries. This applies to all types of cargo as well as single and groupage shipments.
This new formality is an important security issue for the British government, particularly since BREXIT. It will enable the British authorities to assess the potential risks associated with shipments, and to guarantee the security of the territory.
In the event of non-compliance (missing or incorrect declaration), carriers may be fined, and goods may be requisitioned or delayed at the UK border.
Negometal has established a trusted partnership with Sherpass, a subsidiary of the Getlink Group. Our “CustomPro ENS” service is intuitive and reliable. Simply drag and drop your customs documents into your dedicated online space.
