“Manufacturer price fixing” : builders will have to pay back their customers

Condemned in 2016 for price agreements (between 1997 and 2011) by the European Commission, Daimler, Daf, Volvo-Renault Trucks and Iveco paid their fines (3.8 billion euros in total). Scania, who appealed, nevertheless had to pay a € 880 million fine.

Today, the bill is still increasing as truck builders are forced to pay damages claimed by their customers.

Complainants include Veolia (for 15,000 trucks of all makes) and Stef (30,000 trucks). It seems that a second wave of assignments (for 70,000 trucks) has been launched. The damage rate would be around € 7,000 per truck purchased.
