The Netherlands joint France and Italie in applying the minimum wage for drivers abroad
The Netherlands joins the other western European countries (Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, Iceland and Norway among others) which have already regulated the European Directive on posted workers (minimum wage).
From March 1, 2020, under the WagwEU Law, the Netherlands will therefore strengthen its legislation on the posting of workers.
- Are concerned: transport companies which temporarily transport their drivers in the Netherlands, both in transport originating or destined in the Netherlands, as well as cabotage operations on Dutch territory (excluded transport of transit).
- Obligations: Any company which employs posted workers in the Netherlands must refer to the Dutch authorities before the start of work via a form on the web portal : english.postedworkers.nl [available in English, German or Flemish] of the Ministry of Business, Social and Dutch Labor.
- Penalty: if the law is not applied, the penalty provided is € 12,000 per employee concerned.
