LONG CLOSURE OF THE
MONT-BLANC TUNNEL
The famous Mont-Blanc tunnel, which links France and Italy, will close from September 2, 2024, 5pm until December 16, 2024, 5pm.
A total closure in both directions of this 60-year-old structure is necessary in order to renew the vault over 2 sections of 300m. This will be the first test project as another one is expected for 2025. The closure period was chosen in agreement with the prefectures of Haute-Savoie and Valle d’Aosta. Indeed, autumn is the period with the lowest impact on tourism, which represents 68% of traffic in 2023 (light vehicles).
This work is essential to ensure the safety of users and the long-term operability of the tunnel.
Alternative routes are proposed. You can also find updated information on the dedicated website.
